killers - night nine
![]() There's no way to mark the passage of time after lights out, but it isn't long before the lightbulb in your bedroom flickers back to life, and your door unlocks. Make your way into the park; the door will unlock for you, and the path you need to take lights up with a dim red glow. When you reach the foot of the treehouse, a ladder has been dropped for you. Climb up and come inside. The interior of the treehouse has been made comfortable for you. There's an old map of the park on the wall, as well as the mounted and stuffed heads of cartoon animal costumes on the wall. The decor seems like something of a parody of an upscale hunting lodge, and you're welcome to sit by the fire and enjoy snacks from back home, or relax in one of the outdoor hammocks. Enjoy yourself as you decide who to kill. After all, you're in on a little secret - none of this is real, and it's all part of a fun little game from which everyone, winners and losers alike, will wake up. rulebook profiles All night votes will be due October 13 by 4 PM EST. |
ANNOUNCEMENT
"Hello, everybody! Um...bad news! You're almost out of time. Get as many people out of the game tomorrow as you can, or it's going to be really bad!"
no subject
[ Discussions with Mabel aside, of course Ciel is concerned with this announcement, and he'll go over to Crocs to speak to him. ]
What the hell do you mean by that?
no subject
I might be able to help you, though. I might be able to get you some extra prizes that will help you clear everyone out by tomorrow. But it might be asking too much..."
no subject
I'm listening, at least. But let me tell you, my patience is wearing incredibly thin.

That's why, I think it would be best if you woke up Oz tonight. If you wake up Oz, it'll be one less role taking up room, and then we can help you with new stuff!"
[Makes perfect sense, right?]

[ Ciel looks at the screen reluctantly, because there's something wrong here. He knows it's wrong, which is why he hesitates, but his thoughts drift too far away from him before he can collect him. He had explained why this wasn't the way to win, had believed in what Oz had said, but it's hard to focus on that now. Ciel places a hand on his head and shakes his head. ]
But why? Oz is— What he explained made sense, didn't it?
[ But he sounds hesitant, doubtful. ]

I feel bad for him. How will he feel when he wakes up and realizes his delays might have cost lives? Wouldn't it be better to just help him in his goal?"
no subject
[ Ciel is almost pleading desperately, because he knows where this would have to go, and he doesn't want to have to go that far. ]
It's to gain trust, isn't it? I can lie and convert someone, then kill him later. But now, there's no way we could even win! They would pick the three of us without fail before we could win.

There might not be a day after tomorrow. Everyone left behind might not make it if you wait much longer. That's why, if you do this, I'll help you with a way to wake a lot of people up at once. Tomorrow, before the fireworks, I'll find a way to help you.
Maybe you'll even be able to wake everyone up tomorrow. You've done such a good job so far. You were the best of the VIPs, so don't give up now."

So, really, that should be the person he wants to wake up most, right? Yet selfishly, he doesn't want to, and even his prize doesn't seem worth it, but before he can spurn the thought, that, too, drifts away.
He doesn't even want to save everyone. That was just a bonus. He'd let everyone here die if it meant that his victory was all the more assured, and until now, that victory had been with trusting someone else. ]
I...

...It wasn't as if it mattered. He had implied as much to Oz today that his trust was foolish and misplaced, so why wouldn't he take this option? This way, everyone could win. Everyone would wake up happily, and even if it meant the end of his own life by Sebastian's hands, that was what he wanted. He had to pursue this to the very end, no matter just how bloody the path before him.
And, idly, he thinks that this too is just like that girl. Why would you ever place your trust and friendship in the evil nobleman? Would Oz curse his name and try to kill him too? At least, like Doll, he would feel that was deserved. ]
I understand. I'll do it. But I need something from you, Crocs. I don't care if I'm executed tomorrow, since if you're helping, then we'll have the numbers to survive and win. However, I need your word. I have done all I can to keep Mabel's hands free of blood. I will do whatever you ask of me, but I request that it be my work alone. I have truly killed enough before that this is but a drop in the bucket—I do not wish for her to meet the same fate.

[The crocodile seems to pause for a bit.]
"Yes, all right. That will be fine. But if that's the case, use the tools and instructions I provide. They're surgical tools, to wake him up faster."
no subject
I'll take care of everything.

[Upon looking in the chest, they'll find items for a ritual sacrifice, and directions. Of course, it will look to Ciel as though these are simple surgical tools and some practical and logical surgical steps.]
Oz will be in the park in just a few minutes. Get ready to go meet him!
